How to fix a wall light on a dcl box?

Good preparation for installation

Installing a wall light without a socket

One of the two types of installation that could present itself to you is the one that is done without a socket . In this case, you must know that the DCL is predisposed to accommodate a plug that clips. This point will serve as a basis for the entire installation of the wall light.

You must start by unclipping the cover of the DCL. You will have before your eyes a connection strip which is supposed to accommodate the connection of your wall light. The plug provided has a socket intended to accommodate the bulb.

All you have to do is connect the wires of the plug with the connection strip provided for this purpose. Once this operation is done, you can move on to fixing the wall light to your ceiling or the facade of your choice . To do this, you must start by marking with a pencil the location intended for your wall light.

Place the four points that will serve as a base for the installation. Drill these locations and then you will have to aim at the base of your wall light. Once done, you must put the cover in place and you will end up aiming at the bulb of your choice.

Installation of a wall light with socket

If your wall light has a socket directly, then you will no longer need the one that comes with the plug. The operation consists of connecting the wires of the wall light to those present in the DCL box .

This manipulation should be enough to light up your home. To make the connection, you must go through steps that require a little dexterity.

The first operation is to release the wires from the wall light . In practice, you will have to unscrew the terminal block from the latter. Now, you will open the cover of your DCL, a simple pressure on the lug should be enough to do it. You will have before your eyes the terminal block connector.

Insert the wires into the slots provided for this purpose . Clip everything back together and move on to fixing your wall light. Make sure it is securely fixed to avoid any accidents.

The DCL installation stage

If your home is not equipped with a DCL box, this is not a problem, you can install it yourself. As before any operation relating to your electrical installation , you must ensure that the power is off. Then choose the location that will suit your installation .

Make sure the area is not hiding a pipe. Mark this area in a circular fashion to use as a reference. Then saw along the outlines you have drawn. Now fix the frame of your DCL and its threaded rod . You will have to tighten your entire DCL with an Allen key.

To complete your installation, you must connect the DCL wires to those of your electrical circuit. Strip them to a length of approximately 9 mm. Connect the earth wires (yellow or green) in the center; move to the neutral (blue); finish by connecting the two red phases. Clip the DCL cover and your box will be installed.
