You have purchased a lampshade but you are having trouble installing it. It is not rocket science to install your lampshade yourself provided you have the right tools and the patience required. Our article gives you the secrets of installing a lampshade whatever its shape and size.

Installing a lampshade
Installing your lampshade is not complicated. You must start by setting up the fixing . If your ceiling has neither a bar nor a hook , you will have to drill a hole at the electrical supply .
The hole will be used to attach a hook that will hold your lampshade holder or chandelier. Typically, your light fixture will have a wire cover that you will need to lift up as you finish the installation.
There are 2 ways to fix a lampshade. The E27 socket fixing (large screw base) which has a large ring with a 40 cm diameter socket. The E14 socket fixing (small base) has a tighter ring with a socket of only 27 mm in diameter.

Connect the wires to your light fixture
To correctly connect your light fixture, here's how to proceed:
- Cut the wires to the desired length.
- Connect the light blue wire and the red wire to a switch. Connect the green wire and the yellow wire to ground.
- Strip the insulation about 8 mm.
- Connect the red wire to the circuit breaker through the phase (L) output. The blue wire will be connected to the switch through the neutral (N) output.
- The yellow and green wires will be connected separately to a terminal, regardless of the connection direction.

To install a hanging lampshade without drilling
If you are not a fan of drilling into walls, you can install your light fixture without drilling into your ceiling. It is possible that you have a concrete ceiling with a recessed box or a light fixture that does not weigh more than 3 kg.
This way you don't have to find your ceiling. Instead, use the Fixalustre mounting system which allows you to effectively fix your light fixture without drilling.
If your light fixture is lighter, dowels are enough to fix it. If, on the other hand, you have a light fixture that is heavier, i.e. more than 3 kg, you must install rails provided for this purpose.

Installing recessed lighting fixtures
If you have opted for a recessed light, you can mount it from below. This involves suspending it with a flattened flange under the ceiling. Using a flag system or turnbuckles, your light is thus attached using threaded rods to the ceiling structure.
To do this, you can use Molly expansion bolts , self-drilling metal anchors , spring segments … These tools are designed to efficiently install and secure a light fixture to a ceiling.

In the case of a sloping ceiling, choose a chandelier, wall lights or spotlights. If you have a stretched ceiling, opt for pendant lights or ceiling lights.

To do this, start by hanging the light fixture on the hook or ceiling as appropriate. Connect the cables and wires using a domino. Attach the domino box to the hook and then adjust the length of your cable to the desired height. And there you have it, your lampshade is ready to be used to illuminate your room.
