Remove the bulb first

Before proceeding with the disassembly , the first thing you need to do is remove the bulb. For classic bulb spotlights, the matter is rather simple. You will just have to unscrew it. You must follow the opposite direction of the installation.

When it comes to the bulbs in the ceiling lights , you need to free the latter. To be more precise, you need to unclip them. To make this easier, it is better for you to climb on a stepladder. You will have more control and more safety.

If your wall light has an LED bulb , the operation will not be complicated. In most cases, LEDs are fixed in the same way as conventional bulbs. You can simply unscrew them. The question that will then arise is whether the bulb is still usable or not.

Conventional bulbs are checked visually. For LEDs, you will need to remove the protection to test the small card with your tester screwdriver. If it still works, you can set it aside to be used later.

Once the bulb is removed, you can move on to the next step: remove the cover from your wall lights . This cover is used to hide the wired installation of the wall light. There are two possible cases depending on your type of light fixture. The wall light may be made of PVC or metal.

Whether in one or the other, their fixings vary between a screwed fixing or not. In the case where it is not screwed, you will simply have to slide the cover and that's it.

In case it is aimed, this is where your screwdriver comes into play. If you are well prepared, the operation will be child's play. It is important to note that if the wall light is located high up, it is advisable to support the cover so that it does not damage the electrical wires . You can use an iron object that is malleable to form a hook.

With the cover removed, you will have access to the electrical connector. Here, you will need your tester screwdriver. Before doing anything, test the current . You will simply need to put the two elements in contact to see if there is a reaction.

Otherwise, you can proceed to uninstall it. It should be noted that if you do not have a tester, you can use a voltmeter which will do the job perfectly.

Once you are sure that no current is flowing anymore, you can then move on to the next step. There are two options. Either the connector is screwed, in which case you will have to use a cross-head screw. Or the connector can also be clipped.
