Soft and graphic, this cinched wooden cage pendant light narrows at its center for a very Scandinavian silhouette, a little like an hourglass. Its slim slats filter the light and create a warm atmosphere in a dining room, a kitchen, or a bedroom.

A wooden cage in two sizes

The Roots by Maytoni comes in two sizes, 25 or 35 cm in diameter by 29 or 38 cm in height, with cables adjustable up to 300 cm. Its slats in light natural wood form an open, airy volume, whose cinched waist gives movement to a simple shape. The small size lends itself to compositions in a series; the large one stands alone above a table.

An E27 bulb for filtered light

The pendant light takes an E27 base bulb of 40 W maximum, not included. A 6 to 8 W LED bulb in warm white, around 2700 K, enhances the wood. The light passes between the slats and casts lines of shadow on the walls and ceiling, for a cozy atmosphere in the evening. A filament bulb shows off the cage particularly well. It has an IP20 rating, for indoor use. Its installation must be entrusted to a professional.

How to style the Roots pendant light

Above a table for four to six people, a 35 cm cage centered about 75 cm from the tabletop is enough to create a warm atmosphere. Above an island, line up three 25 cm cages 50 to 60 cm apart. For a lively cluster, pair it with the corolla, the cylindrical cage, or the pear from the same range, at staggered heights. The 3 m cables also adapt to ceilings under exposed roof beams.
