This industrial wall sconce combines a 105 cm black steel bar with a light tube, held by thin metal rods that surround it like a cage. From Thoro, the Valo sconce embraces its workshop vocabulary and turns the technical device into an aesthetic statement, in a loft, a kitchen or behind a counter.

The steel rods are not there only for protection. They draw a regular rhythm along the tube and cast thin parallel shadows on the wall once the lamp is on. The source stays visible, as in the workshops and storerooms this look comes from: you see the light emerge from the tube, with no diffuser to soften it.

This black wall sconce measures only 8 cm wide and 7 cm deep. It therefore stays very flat against the wall and lights the space without getting in the way, in a narrow hallway as well as behind a bar. In daylight, the uniform black of the steel makes the structure fade away and lets the tube stand out like a pale line.

14 W linear lighting, T8 tube included

The Valo sconce comes with its 14 W T8 tube, which delivers about 1200 lumens. The light is spread evenly along the whole length of the fixture. This linear lighting is useful above a worktop, a bar or a console, where a single point of light would leave shadows.

This flux suits direct accent lighting. To light an entire room, combine Valo with a ceiling light or other sconces. The tube can be replaced with a model of the same base and equivalent power: note its format before any replacement, as T8 tube lengths vary. The sconce runs on 220-240 V and has an IP20 protection rating, for dry rooms.

In a loft or a living room, this industrial-style sconce goes well with concrete, brick and raw metal. Behind a bar counter, in a restaurant or a club, it provides discreet service lighting and holds its own in a very busy decor.

In a kitchen or a dining room, installed above a sideboard, it lights the useful surface and leaves the ceiling free. Simply keep it away from sinks and exposed cooking surfaces. Mounted horizontally, it emphasizes the line of a piece of furniture; mounted vertically, it follows an upright, a door or the corner of a partition.

A designer wall sconce to use alone or in a series

Several units aligned at regular intervals turn a bare wall into a rhythmic facade, like a workshop hallway. Two sconces placed head to tail frame a mirror or a picture and give the wall a very graphic structure. This designer wall sconce does not cope well with visible cables: if you install several, plan their power supply from the very start of the project.

The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Check that it is level with a spirit level before finally tightening the fixings. Wait until the tube has cooled before removing it from its supports. For maintenance, a soft brush gets between the rods better than a cloth; then wipe the body with a dry, clean cloth.
