The Eskola ceiling light starts from a circle and refuses symmetry: the ring thickens on one side, thins on the other and closes like a brushstroke. Depending on the angle you view it from, the loop looks open or closed. The form thus stays far more alive than a regular ring, and the light fixture stands out as much when off as when on.

This black steel ceiling light comes in a single finish, a matte black that does not catch reflections from the windows. The lacquered steel keeps crisp edges, and the contrast with a light ceiling is enough to make the loop stand out in broad daylight. Thoro offers the same design as a pendant light, which lets you repeat the form in two neighboring rooms.

A light fixture to mount on the ceiling or as a wall sconce

Mounted on the ceiling, Eskola occupies the space like a flat sculpture. Its depth stays contained: 12.4 cm for the 70 cm model, 17.5 cm for the 110 cm model and 22.5 cm for the 140 cm model. It therefore also suits rooms with limited ceiling height.

Mounted on the wall, it becomes a large wall sconce that dresses a bare wall, above a sofa, a console or along a wide hallway. The fixing and the black cable remain visible and are part of the design: plan for a well-placed electrical outlet, at the center of the area to be lit. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Three ceiling light sizes: 70, 110 or 140 cm

The 70 cm model suits a bedroom, an office or an entryway. It stays legible without covering the whole surface of a small ceiling. The 110 cm model is meant for living rooms and dining rooms of standard size, where it immediately becomes the focal point of the room.

The 140 cm version is a large designer ceiling light that calls for a generous volume: a cathedral-ceiling living room, a hall or a restaurant room. Its loop can be read from the other end of the room. Before ordering, measure the available area, beams and dropped ceilings included: an irregular form does not cope well with being squeezed against a wall or joinery.

An E27 bulb for soft, indirect light

The Eskola ceiling light takes a bulb with an E27 base, with a maximum power of 15 W in LED. It stays hidden behind the loop and the light comes out by diffusion: it spreads over the ceiling or the neighboring wall, with no bright spot aimed at the eyes. The result is a softer, less technical indirect light, pleasant for an evening atmosphere.

The bulb is not included, which lets you choose the shade and the intensity. A frosted bulb gives an even light behind the loop; a model with a visible filament is reflected more on the steel. A warm shade softens the contrast of the black in a living room, while a more neutral light makes reading more comfortable in an office. The light fixture runs on 220-240 V, has an IP20 protection rating and is reserved for dry rooms. A dry cloth is enough to maintain the lacquered steel.
