Wall Sconce | EDISON (Black)

The Edison wall sconce by Sollux Lighting is an industrial-style black light fixture made up of a steel rod, a fabric cable and an exposed bulb. It measures 23 cm wide by up to 100 cm high and takes an E27 bulb.

An industrial wall sconce shaped by its cable

On this industrial wall sconce, the black fabric-covered cable winds around the rod and forms a soft loop. No two wall sconces look quite alike, because the shape depends on how the wire is wound.

The rod serves both as a support and as the starting point of the design. It holds the bulb away from the wall and keeps the light from clinging to the surface.

The whole character of the light fixture lies in the contrast between this black line and the brightness of the bulb. Its simple form recalls workshop lamps.

A fabric cable wall sconce with adjustable height

The height of this fabric cable wall sconce is adjustable. By shortening or lengthening the loop, you raise the bulb close to the rod or let it hang down along the wall. The wall sconce thus adapts to the height of a bedside table or an armchair.

Left low, the bulb lights a book directly. Raised, it becomes a more general ambient light that illuminates the upper part of the wall.

This freedom also makes it possible to install several wall sconces side by side, at slightly different heights. The effect is very decorative.

Where to install this black wall sconce?

On each side of a bed, 2 Edison wall sconces replace the bedside lamps and free up the bedside tables. This black wall sconce can then be adjusted to the height of each sleeper.

In a living room, near a sofa or an armchair, this wall sconce creates a loft-style reading nook. It stands out particularly well on a concrete, brick or wood wall.

In a dining room or a kitchen, above a table placed against the wall, it provides a warm light. In an office, it lights the work surface without taking up any desktop space.

Which E27 bulb for this wall sconce?

Edison takes 1 E27 LED bulb of 15 W maximum, not included. Since it remains visible, it matters as much as the light fixture. A large opal globe bulb gives a soft light, while an amber filament bulb adds a retro touch.

During installation, take the length of the cable into account: the bulb must be able to hang down to the desired height without touching the furniture below. The light fixture is rated IP20, so it is intended for dry rooms only. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

For maintenance, switch off the power and let the bulb cool down. Dust the cable with a soft brush and wipe the rod with a dry cloth, without any liquid product that would mark the fabric.
