The Lagos wall sconce from Sollux Lighting is a steel tube mounted vertically against the wall, open at its 2 ends, which projects one beam toward the ceiling and another toward the floor. The 2-light version measures 6 cm long, 8 cm wide and 30 cm high, takes GU10 bulbs and comes in 9 finishes.

A double-beam tube wall sconce

Each end of the tube houses a GU10 source. The light comes out in 2 tight cones, which draw an hourglass silhouette on the wall.

With this tube wall sconce, the wall becomes the real support for the lighting. A lime plaster, polished concrete or painted brick reveals its texture under these grazing beams.

The sources sit recessed inside the tube and cannot be seen from the front. Even in a narrow hallway, you walk past the sconce without being dazzled. In beige, a 1-light version is also available.

9 finishes: which shade to choose?

White and beige blend into a light wall and leave the 2 beams alone on stage. Black and taupe draw a crisp graphic line, particularly striking on a white wall.

Olive green, ochre red, burgundy and ultramarine give the tube a colorful presence. Its very slim silhouette keeps it from looking heavy.

Polished gold, the only shiny finish, catches the ambient light even when switched off. This gold wall sconce matches handles and faucets in the same shade.

Where to install this sconce for a hallway or bedroom?

This hallway sconce is installed in a series. Evenly spaced, the tubes create a rhythm of beams far livelier than uniform lighting.

On either side of a door, 2 tubes mark the entrance and provide a welcoming light. In a bedroom, mounted above a bedside table, this wall sconce replaces the bedside lamp and frees up the tabletop.

In a living room or a dining room, 2 tubes framing a sideboard or a large painting draw an elegant frame of light. In a kitchen, a pair on each side of a window gives structure to the wall.

Which GU10 bulbs for this sconce?

Lagos takes GU10 bulbs, LED, not included. Fit bulbs of the same tone so that the 2 beams stay uniform. A narrow beam highlights a console, while a wider beam lights the ceiling better.

Leave some space between the top of the tube and the ceiling, otherwise the upper beam gets squashed. Check that it is vertical with a level before tightening. The light fixture is rated IP20, so it is intended for dry rooms only. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

For maintenance, switch off the power and let the bulbs cool down. A soft, dry cloth is enough on the lacquered steel.
