Wall Sconce | GLOBE

The Globe wall sconce from Sollux Lighting is a half-sphere 18 cm long, available in white ceramic or gray concrete, which casts its light upward and downward. The ceramic version takes 1 E27 bulb and the concrete version takes 2 G9 bulbs.

A soft half-sphere wall sconce

The rounded shape catches daylight gradually, with a gradient of shadows that highlights its volume. Even when switched off, this half-sphere wall sconce remains a decorative object that is pleasant to look at.

Its round silhouette contrasts with the straight lines of furniture and door frames. It brings softness to very geometric interiors.

Its size stays modest. The sconce slips onto a narrow section of wall, between 2 doors or above a small console. Its simple lines suit modern and minimalist interiors.

White ceramic or gray concrete: which version to choose?

The white ceramic sconce measures 18 cm long, 11 cm wide and 14.5 cm high. Its matte surface blends into a white wall so that only the light is visible. It can also be painted with ordinary wall paint, in the color of your choice.

The gray concrete sconce measures 18 cm long, 14 cm wide and 14 cm high. Its porous surface gives it a mineral look, as comfortable in a loft as in a more understated decor.

The 2 versions can live together in the same home, for example the concrete in the hallway and the ceramic in the bedrooms. They keep the same round shape.

Indirect lighting upward and downward

The light escapes from the top and the bottom, then glides over the wall around the sphere. This indirect lighting creates a subdued atmosphere, perfect for the evening.

On a textured wall, the grazing light reveals the relief of a lime plaster or polished concrete finish. Seen from the front, you only see the light running along the wall.

In a bedroom, 2 spheres above the bedside tables create a cocoon-like atmosphere. In a hallway, this wall sconce works well in a series and provides soft guidance. In a living room or a dining room, a pair frames a sideboard or a sofa with a calm light.

E27 or G9 bulb: which source for each version?

The ceramic version takes 1 E27 bulb, LED, 15 W maximum, not included. The concrete version takes 2 G9 LED bulbs, 8 W maximum each, not included. Choose compact models, which stay sheltered inside the sphere.

A warm white suits the roundness of the shape and creates a muted atmosphere. The light fixture is rated IP20, so it is intended for dry rooms only. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

For maintenance, switch off the power and let the bulbs cool down. Dust the ceramic and the concrete with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding water on the porous surface of the concrete.
