A long light module coiled around itself, like a ribbon frozen mid-motion, this designer pendant light makes its source the main motif of the light fixture. Designed by Thoro, the Galakse pendant light comes in 84 cm or 148 cm wide, on a black aluminum structure, with a light color adjustable from 2700 to 6500 K.

A black pendant light with an irregular ribbon of light

The loop of the Galakse pendant light follows no regular geometry: it changes appearance depending on where you look at it from. From the front, it reads as a continuous line. From the side, it takes on volume and truly occupies the space.

The matte black aluminum that carries the module stays in the background. Once this black pendant light is on, you perceive only the line of light, suspended above the table like a drawing traced in the air. It replaces a whole row of light fixtures on its own and leaves the ceiling clear all around.

An LED pendant light in 2 widths, 84 cm or 148 cm

This LED pendant light comes in 2 sizes. The 84 cm model, 45 cm wide, delivers from 28 to 64 W, a luminous flux of 3700 to 7600 lumens depending on the selected color, according to the manufacturer's data. The 148 cm model, 58 cm wide, goes from 35 to 80 W and exceeds 9000 lumens at maximum: it is enough to light a large living space on its own.

The source is integrated and delivered with the light fixture: there is no bulb to choose or screw in. The manufacturer states a color rendering index of 90 and flicker-free light, two points that matter when the pendant light stays on for several hours in a row. It runs on 220-240 V and has an IP20 protection rating, for dry rooms.

An adjustable color temperature from 2700 to 6500 K

The adjustable color temperature takes the light from very warm white at 2700 K, close to a filament bulb, to cool white at 6500 K, much closer to daylight. In practice, you keep a warm tone for dinner and switch to a cooler white to work or do homework at the same table.

Power consumption follows the setting: the cooler and more intense the light, the more the power increases. In a bedroom, prefer the 84 cm version and a warm tone. The luminous loop stays decorative there, without turning the room into a workspace.

A large pendant light for the dining room, living room or office

Above a dining table, choose the size according to the length of the tabletop: the loop should stay within it, without extending above the chairs. In a loft-style living room, above a corner sofa or a coffee table, this large pendant light plays the role of a luminous sculpture and draws the eye from the entrance. In an office or a reception area, the 148 cm version provides powerful general lighting.

The total height reaches 160 cm and the black cable is adjusted during installation. Above a table, aim for about 70 cm between the tabletop and the bottom of the loop. The light fixture is attached at a single point on the ceiling: plan on two people to hold the module during installation. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Keep the pendant light at a good distance from sinks, cooktops and any source of steam; a dry cloth is enough to maintain it.
