Dimmer Switch | DIMMER (250W)

The Dimmer multi-way dimmer from Buster + Punch is a 1 gang rotary dimmer for push-button circuits, made up of a knurled solid metal knob and a flat plate. Its plate measures 9 cm by 9 cm, it accepts 3 to 250 W of LED bulbs at 220 to 240 V and is available with linear or cross knurling, with or without logo.

A metal rotary dimmer, with linear or cross knurling

The knob of this rotary dimmer is made of solid metal. You press it to turn the light on or off, then turn it to adjust the brightness. The rotation comes with a slight clicking sound.

Two knurling patterns are available for the knob. The linear knurling, called Linear, is the most recent linear pattern from Buster + Punch. The cross knurling, called Cross, is a crossed pattern, cut in diamond points.

The flat plate combines stainless steel and polycarbonate, and can be chosen with the brand's logo or with no marking at all. Torx screws hold it in place on the linear version, the brand's own slotted screws on the cross version. Once the dimmer is installed, a 6.5 mm shadow gap separates the plate from the wall.

Multi-way dimmer: control from several locations

This model is a dimmer for push-buttons: it is wired on a lighting circuit fitted with push switches, not conventional switches. You then control the same light from several locations, for example at the top and bottom of a staircase. The brand's push switch modules are designed for this use.

On each push-button, a short press turns the light on or off. A long press varies the brightness, up then down.

This dimmer is not compatible with standard wiring or with conventional switches, whether one-way, two-way or intermediate. It therefore does not replace one of the switches in an existing two-way circuit. A single light takes only one dimmer. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

250 W LED dimmer: permitted load, installation and finishes

This 250 W LED dimmer accepts a load of 3 to 250 W of dimmable LED bulbs. With halogen or incandescent bulbs, the range is 10 to 350 W. It operates at 220 to 240 V, 50 Hz. The light comes on gradually: full brightness may be reached after 1 to 2 seconds.

The dimmer is not suitable for motors, fans or other large inductive loads. It is fitted on a European-standard wall box, mounted flush with the wall, and it is for indoor use only, away from moisture. The box contains 1 wall plate, 1 dimmer module and 1 finishing kit for the knob. The linear version adds 1 Torx screw cover kit.

The Dimmer is available in brass, steel, smoked bronze, black and white. The cross knurling adds a sixth version, which combines black with orange details. The brass dimmer and the smoked bronze version warm up a light-colored wall, while steel remains more neutral. This light dimmer pairs with the toggle switches from the same range, to keep the same knurling from the living room to the hallway.
