A black pendant light in steel and aluminum

The Kukkia pendant light is built on a steel and aluminum structure, in a fully matte black finish. At 142 cm long and 62 cm wide, it covers the length of a large table and becomes the focal point of the room.

Between the spotlights, this black pendant light provides spaces designed to hold plants. This is what sets it apart from a simple suspended spotlight rail: it brings the touch of greenery that is often missing above an island or a bar, without adding any furniture on the floor.

A 4-light pendant light with GU10 bases

This 4-light pendant light takes in each tube a bulb with a GU10 base of 10 W maximum, or 40 W in total. The light goes down in 4 distinct beams, spread along the table. Kukkia therefore mainly lights the surface right below it and is happily complemented by an accent lamp.

The bulbs are not included: you choose the color, the beam angle and the power yourself. For a dining table, a warm white around 3000 K remains the safest choice, with 4 identical bulbs for an even result. A wide beam lights the whole tabletop, while a narrow beam creates 4 more defined circles of light. The light fixture runs on 220-240 V and has an IP20 protection rating.

Which plants for a plant-themed pendant light

For this plant-themed pendant light, choose light, undemanding plants that can tolerate living up high: repotting and watering require climbing a stepladder. Weight matters too. Add up that of the pots, the damp soil and the water, and stick to lightweight containers.

Keep foliage away from the bulbs, which heat up during operation. A bit of free space around each spotlight prevents burnt leaves. Also remember that trailing foliage quickly gains a few dozen centimeters and can end up getting in the way.

A pendant light for the dining room, kitchen island or office

Above a large table, this dining room pendant light is centered on the furniture and aligned with its long side, otherwise the asymmetry is immediately noticeable. Above a kitchen island or a bar, it lights the worktop: simply avoid placing it right above a cooktop or a sink. In an office set up in the living area, it marks the work zone.

Place the bottom of the structure about 70 cm from the tabletop to keep a clear view from one end of the table to the other. Installation is done on the ceiling at a single fixing point: given the length and the weight, plan on having help to hold the structure. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Change the bulbs with the power off, once the spotlight has cooled, and clean the metal with a dry cloth.
