With its black aluminum profile held by an almost invisible transparent cable, this linear LED pendant light boils down to a perfectly straight bar of light. Designed by Thoro, the Alvar pendant light comes in a 1-arm version of 70 cm or a 3-arm version spread over 150 cm, both in 3000 K warm white: a minimalist silhouette for the dining room, entryway or bedroom.

The Alvar pendant light relies on a single line, taut and straight. The light comes out of the underside of the profile and goes down toward the floor. The black metal frames the bright line and limits diffusion to the sides, which keeps the whole very crisp, whether lit or unlit.

Nothing protrudes from this black pendant light: no visible lamp holder, no glass, no visible rod. The profile is 12 cm wide and, seen from the side, it is reduced to a thin edge. This economy of means explains why Alvar goes as well with a minimalist interior as with a warmer contemporary decor.

1-arm pendant light or 3-arm chandelier: two formats

The 1-arm version is reduced to a horizontal line 70 cm long. It drops down to 230 cm and suits spaces where you want a measured presence, above a specific piece of furniture.

The 3-arm version is a 3-arm chandelier that spreads three bars at different heights and orientations, within a volume 150 cm on each side and 260 cm high. The slimness of the profile makes it light despite its span. To choose, start from the room: a single bar highlights a table or a worktop, while the three arms fill the volume and replace central lighting.

Integrated LED in 3000 K warm white

In both cases, the source is an integrated LED, included with the light fixture, with no bulb to buy separately. The 1-arm model delivers 15 W for nearly 1900 lumens. The 3-arm model reaches 47 W and more than 6000 lumens, enough to light an entire room.

Both versions light in 3000 K warm white, a welcoming tone that softens the contrast of the black metal and suits meals as well as evenings. The light fixture runs on 220-240 V and has an IP20 protection rating: it is for indoor use only, in the dry rooms of the home.

A pendant light for the dining room, entryway or bedroom

Above a rectangular table, this dining room pendant light follows the length of the tabletop and lights the seats evenly. In an entryway or a stairwell, the 3-arm version occupies the available height and can be seen from several levels. In a bedroom, the 1-arm model hung near the bed replaces a wall sconce and frees up the bedside table.

The transparent cable is shortened during installation: allow 70 to 80 cm between the light bar and the surface of a dining table. On a staircase, set the lowest bar above the passage. The mounting plate, 12 cm for the 1-arm model and 15.5 cm for the 3-arm one, is fixed to the ceiling above the electrical outlet. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. For maintenance, a dry microfiber cloth is enough on the aluminum.
