The Ake sconce comes down to two simple shapes: a 50 cm diameter steel disc fixed to the wall and an opal glass sphere set in its center. This contrast of scale is enough to give it character. When off, it acts as a flat block of color on the wall, a bit like an abstract painting or a poster with geometric shapes.

Its silhouette recalls 60s design and the Art Deco spirit, while staying clean enough for a contemporary interior. This designer wall sconce therefore fits as well in a loft as in a revisited classic interior. Its matte finish sets off the color, with no shine or flashy effect.

An opal glass sconce with a soft light, G9 base

When the lamp is switched on, the sphere gives off a soft glow that lights the disc all around. The color of the metal warms up near the center and the sconce then looks like a small star set against the wall. The opal glass hides the bulb and limits glare: the light stays diffuse, designed for ambiance rather than for reading.

This G9 sconce works with an LED bulb with a maximum power of 8 W. The bulb is not included, which leaves you free to choose the shade: a warm white brings out the burgundy, the brown or the olive green, a neutral white renders the ultramarine or the azure blue more faithfully. The sconce has an IP20 protection rating, for indoor use in dry rooms.

Beige, taupe and sage blend into a light or natural wall: they suit you if you are looking for a discreet fixture that adds texture without drawing all the attention. Burgundy, brown and olive green set a more subdued atmosphere and go well with wood or velvet.

In a living room, place the Ake sconce above a sofa or a console. In a bedroom, a wall sconce for the bedroom on each side of the bed replaces bedside lamps and frees up the nightstands. In a hallway or an entryway, its projection of only 14 cm allows it to be installed without getting in the way of the passage.

The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. To change the bulb, switch off the power and wait until the sphere has cooled. For maintenance, a soft, dry cloth is enough to dust the disc; avoid abrasive products, which could mark the matte finish.
