Pendant Light | VALO

A bare glass tube held between two black steel end caps and surrounded by thin metal rods, this industrial-style pendant light embraces the workshop aesthetic and turns a simple linear source into an object with character. Designed by Thoro, the Valo pendant light measures 105 cm long by 8 cm wide, drops down to 150 cm below the ceiling and comes with its 3000 K tube.

The rods that surround the source of the Valo pendant light do not only serve to protect it: they draw an open volume that gives depth to an otherwise very flat silhouette. Seen from afar, the lamp boils down to a horizontal line of light. As you get closer, you can make out the regular repetition of the rods and the design of the end caps.

The cage, the end caps and the cable of this black steel pendant light are all finished in matte black, which accentuates the graphic look. Against a light ceiling, the structure stands out clearly; against a dark beam, only the line of light remains visible.

A 14 W T8 tube already included

The pendant light comes with its 14 W T8 tube, which delivers 1200 lumens according to the manufacturer's data. You therefore have no bulb to choose at the time of purchase. The tube remains visible at all times, even when off: it is a deliberate choice, Valo shows its source instead of hiding it behind a diffuser.

The flux stays moderate. Valo lights a table or a counter pleasantly, but is best paired with a second light point to cover a whole room. The light fixture runs on 220-240 V and has an IP20 protection rating: reserve it for dry rooms, away from steam and splashes.

A 3000 K warm white light

The tube's 3000 K warm white suits living spaces as well as restaurant dining rooms, where the lighting must stay welcoming at the end of the day. Above a dining table, the horizontal line follows the shape of the tabletop and lights all the guests without leaving a dark area.

In a kitchen, placed above an island or a worktop, the pendant light provides a discreet task light and a deliberate industrial accent. This warm tone also softens the black of the structure and warms up a wood or metal decor.

A pendant light for a kitchen island, bar or restaurant

Above a long counter, this bar pendant light is installed in groups of 3 or 4, spaced about 150 cm apart, for even lighting without multiplying shadows. In a bar or a restaurant, several units lined up make up a rhythmic ceiling, in the spirit of old market halls and converted workshops. Keep the same orientation everywhere: parallel tubes read as a composition, crossed tubes as disorder.

The 8 cm ceiling canopy is fixed to the ceiling and the black cable is adjusted to the desired length, up to 150 cm. In a long room, align the lamps along the axis of the passage rather than across it. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. For maintenance, a dry microfiber cloth wiped over the rods and the tube is enough: the steel marks little, but fingerprints show quickly on the glass.
