A black steel ellipse set horizontally, so thin that it looks like a line suspended in the void, this oval pendant light lights the table with great precision. Designed by Thoro, the Holar pendant light comes in 2 versions: an 81 cm ellipse with 1 light source and a 131 cm ellipse with 2 light sources, to be fitted with GU10 bulbs.

A black pendant light in the shape of an ellipse

The elongated oval of the Holar pendant light naturally follows the shape of a rectangular table, where a circle would leave the ends in the shadows. The lamp holders sit inside the outline and leave the silhouette perfectly legible.

The profile is only 6 cm wide: seen from the front, the structure almost disappears, and from the side it is reduced to a continuous line. The matte black of this black pendant light suits loft-style interiors, brick walls and galleries. It emphasizes the geometry without adding any shine.

A GU10 pendant light in 81 cm or 131 cm

The version with 1 light source, 81 cm long, is enough above a table for 4 people, the end of a counter or a coffee table. The version with 2 light sources reaches 131 cm: the two spotlights are spread along the ellipse and cover a table for 6 to 8 guests.

On this GU10 pendant light, the spotlights direct the light downward and define a clear illuminated area, without flooding the whole room. It is lighting that points out a specific place. The light fixture runs on 220-240 V and has an IP20 protection rating, for indoor use in dry rooms.

Which GU10 LED bulbs to choose

Each lamp holder accepts a GU10 LED bulb of 10 W maximum. The bulbs are not included, which leaves you in control of the beam angle and color. A narrow beam accentuates the spotlight effect on the table, while a wider angle softens the edges of the illuminated area.

On the version with 2 light sources, use two strictly identical bulbs: a difference in color would be immediately visible on the same surface. Choose a warm tone for a dining room and a more neutral light above a worktop, where you need to distinguish colors clearly.

A pendant light for the dining room, living room or bedroom

Above a dining table, center this dining room pendant light on the tabletop and leave about 70 cm of clearance to keep eye contact between guests. In a living room, above a coffee table, it draws a luminous frame that marks out the relaxation corner. In a bedroom, hung on one side of the bed only, the ellipse replaces a bedside lamp and frees up the nightstand.

The cables are adjusted during installation, with a maximum height of 156 cm for the 81 cm model and 170 cm for the 131 cm model. The ceiling canopy follows the size of the light fixture: 15 cm for the short model, 45 cm for the long one. Check that the ellipse is level from two points in the room before locking the cables. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Clean it with a dry cloth.
