The dummy dimmer push module by Buster + Punch is a momentary-contact push-button that looks like a dimmer, to be fitted to a modular wall plate. It is rated for 6 A at 230 V and is sold on its own, without a plate or decorative knob.

A push-button that looks like a dimmer

This electrical module reproduces the look of one of the brand's dimmers down to the last detail. Yet it has no built-in dimming function. Buster + Punch designed it to keep the same appearance across a whole plate, when a dimmer sits alongside another control.

Behind the knob is a momentary-contact push-button. The contact closes for as long as you press and opens again as soon as you release.

It therefore does not replace a conventional switch. The brand specifies that it is not compatible with standard wiring, whether with a two-way switch or with an intermediate switch.

Push switch for a multi-way dimmer: control and dimming

This push switch for a dimmer is wired with the 250W multi-way dimmer module by Buster + Punch. A short press turns the lighting on or off. A long press raises or lowers the brightness.

You can thus control the same lighting from several places, for example at the 2 ends of a hallway and at the top of a staircase. The brand also states that it is compatible with home automation systems that accept a momentary contact.

The module is rated for 6 A at 230 V, at 50 Hz. It is intended for domestic lighting circuits, indoors, and is not suitable for damp environments. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Wall plate and kit: what you need to add

The box contains 1 dummy dimmer push module and 1 anti-rotation adapter. The plate and the decorative knob are ordered separately.

First you need a wall plate with inserts from the brand, which accepts toggles, dimmers, sockets and data modules. The plate without inserts, reserved for sockets and data modules, is not suitable. Once fitted to its plate, the module is installed on a European-standard wall box, mounted flush with the wall.

Next you need a dimmer finishing kit, which provides the solid metal knob. It is available with the linear knurling, called Linear, or the cross knurling, called Cross, in brass, steel, smoked bronze, black or white. Dimmer modules from other manufacturers are not compatible with these kits.
