Wall Sconce | IVAR

An aluminum cylinder covered in fine vertical flutes, set away from the wall on its backplate: this cylinder wall sconce borrows its relief from ancient columns and ridged ceramics. Designed by Thoro, the Ivar sconce is 30 cm high, comes in ten colors and has an integrated LED in either 3000 K warm white or 4000 K neutral white.

A fluted aluminum wall sconce

The cylinder of the Ivar sconce is 30 cm high and 6.4 cm in diameter. Its grooves create a constant play of shadows and reflections: depending on the ambient lighting and the viewing angle, the color looks lighter or deeper. This relief gives the sconce a strong presence despite its small size.

Even when switched off, this fluted wall sconce remains a decorative object. Its texture recalls handmade ceramics and adds a touch of material to a smooth wall, without overloading the decor. The Thoro Ivar collection also includes pendant lights in the same colors, to repeat the motif from one room to another.

A 14 W LED sconce in 3000 K or 4000 K

The sconce houses two integrated LED sources, for a total power of 14 W. At 3000 K, this LED wall sconce delivers nearly 1900 lumens, which is generous for a wall light fixture. The 36 degree beam angle concentrates the light instead of scattering it: the lighting gains precision and highlights an architectural detail or an object.

With a color rendering index of 90, the shades of walls and objects remain natural. The 3000 K warm white suits living rooms and bedrooms; the 4000 K neutral white will be more appropriate in a hallway or an office. The LED is included, so no bulb is needed. The sconce is rated IP20, for indoor use in dry rooms.

A colored wall sconce in ten shades

White, beige and taupe offer understated versions that let the flutes speak for themselves. They suit light, japandi or Scandinavian interiors. Black and mocha give a more elegant and graphic look, especially on a white wall or against light wood paneling.

Olive green, red ochre, burgundy, peach and ultramarine turn Ivar into a colored wall sconce, to be matched with the textiles or ceramics in the room. For a whole wall, alternate two similar shades, beige and peach for example, or taupe and mocha: the fluted pattern ties the sconces together despite the difference in color.

A wall sconce for the hallway, entryway or dining room

On either side of an entryway mirror or a console, two Ivar sconces create a symmetrical composition and pleasant lighting. Installed in a series at regular intervals, this hallway wall sconce marks out the passage; its small diameter allows it to be installed even in a narrow passageway. In a dining room, it goes with a pendant light from the same collection.

The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. To dust the flutes, use a soft brush or a dry microfiber cloth, following the direction of the grooves so as not to leave marks.
